Victoria’s contemporary multicultural soul will come alive in this dynamic music showcase profiling some of our newest emerging talent alongside leading figures from Melbourne’s music scene. All the artists presented in this one-off show have participated in MAV’s State of Culture music program with mentoring, new collaborations, recording, creative development and more. Hailing from First Nations to our newest arrivals, from metro Melbourne to the regional towns of Shepparton and Moama, these extraordinary artists proudly represent Victoria’s contemporary music landscape and are forging a new Australian sound and cultural narrative.

State of Culture #2 will be hosted by creative powerhouse Syrene Favero and will feature: Allara Briggs-Pattison, a proud Yorta Yorta artist creating orchestral bowed harmonies mixed with electronic beats and traditional clap sticks; Semina Tanzanian, whose captivating voice has been likened to the great Dinah Washington; Claudia Robertson & Peta Crombe, emerging young Pacific songstresses with soul and R&B vibes; TEAGAN, a singer-songwriter whose bold, layered pop tracks and writing intimately portray her life; Madi Colville Walker all the way from Moama is young Yorta Yorta country artist and singer-songwriter armed with her guitar and a beautiful voice; Marija Janev Macedonian, whose music transcends divides in culture, religion and race; collaborators Lay the Mystic and Pookie, who combine their love of hip hop, R&B, dancehall and poetry to create a magnetic and utterly unique performance; collaborators Kalala and Iki San, who create a lyrical tapestry of jazz and soul-inspired music that speaks of understanding of self, love and land; and Taj Aldeeb, an emerging young Syrian Australia singer-songwriter.
