Abodo Wood and Britton Timbers—timber suppliers to MPavilion—host a casual architects’ networking and learning event. Drop by after work at any time between 5.30pm and 7.30pm to mingle and enjoy light refreshments with friends or colleagues; and through interactive displays learn about the latest in timber finishes and maintenance.
At 6.15pm, special guest Carmel Wade from Stephenson and Turner in Christchurch will talk about being a woman in architecture, the rebuilding of Christchurch, and the Vodafone Building, an anchor project in the Christchurch rebuild and a 5 Star Green Rated building.
Some of the timbers and finishes on display will be charred wood (the ancient Japanese method of Shou Sugi Ban) and a new finish from Sweden which escalates the greying process (and minimises maintenance).
Based in New Zealand, Abodo Wood is disrupting the timber industry through its plantation-only sourcing, heat treatment (over chemical), and lamination processes to increase application flexibility.
