Are you aged 15-25? Be part of the MPavilion 2019 program!

For the first year ever, we’re calling out to young people aged 15–25 to be part of the exciting MPavilion 2019 season of free events! If you have a great idea for an event you think would work well inside MPavilion—which will open in the Queen Victoria Gardens in the heart of Melbourne from 12 November 2019 until 22 March 2020—we want to hear from you.

MPavilion is a civic space and cultural laboratory for the whole community. Your idea might be a workshop to share a skill or an open gathering to discuss a social issue you’re passionate about. It might be a public talk or a panel conversation about a topic you’re knowledgable about. It could be a music, poetry or dance performance, an open book club or a creative writing gathering. Perhaps it’s science and technology that gets you out of bed each day. Think outside the box—the sky is the limit! (Well, there are a few guidelines—keep reading.)

In 2019, the MPavilion will be designed by renowned Australian architect Glenn Murcutt AO, internationally influential for his interest in environmentally responsible design, his cultural collaborations (such as the Australian Islamic Centre in Newport, designed with architect Hakan Elevli), and his dedication to sharing knowledge. (Read all about Glenn, his practice and his previous work here.)

Each month of the forthcoming MPavilion season has been themed to reflect Glenn’s outstanding career. Depending on the month you’d like to hold your event, your proposal should in some way respond to one of the following themes:

  • Nov 2019—Australian Design: Identity and Cultural Collaboration
  • Dec 2019—Connection: Instruments of Harmonious Living
  • Jan 2020—Unplugged: Energy Without Electricity
  • Feb 2020—Earth: A Place of Reconciliation, a Reconciliation of Place
  • Mar 2020—Knowledge: Shared Learning, Shared Power

We welcome people from all walks of life. Our diversity is vital to achieving our purpose and goals.
