We’re always excited to share news of MPavilion garnering praise around the world—and this news is big. MPavilion 2017, designed by Netherlands-based OMA / Rem Koolhaas & David Gianotten, is among only a handful of designs up for major accolades at the Architizer A+Awards. The hugely celebrated New York-based awards program, which flaunts a global audience of more than 400 million people, has listed MPavilion 2017 as a finalist in the category of ‘Community + Architecture’, which also puts it in the running for the Popular Choice Award, chosen by online public vote.

The A+Awards has also selected MPavilion 2017 for special recognition in the category of ‘Cultural Pavilions’. The esteemed awards news comes soon after the announcement that the WAF/INSIDE Awards has shortlisted the pavilion—which in our last event season drew over 117,000 visitors to the Queen Victoria Gardens—in the category of ‘World’s Best Building/Interior of 2018’. The awards are presented by the World Architecture Festival and INSIDE Festival of Interiors, held in Amsterdam in November.

We also recently brought you the news that the INDE.Awards, organised and presented by Indesign Media Asia Pacific, this year shortlisted MPavilion 2017 in the category of ‘The Influencer’. The INDE.Awards recognises the Asia Pacific region’s most progressive design and architecture.

Locally, the construction team responsible for building MPavilion 2017 has been recognised with a well-deserved award. David Purcell of Kane Constructions received the High Commendation Award in the ‘Commercial Construction (up to $5m)’ category of the Professional Excellence in Building Awards, presented by the Victorian and Tasmanian chapters of the Australian Institute of Building. David is a project manager at Kane Constructions and is a valued member of the MPavilion family. Recipients in the chapter awards go forward to the national awards held in Canberra in September.
